1. Revival of Commercial Activities
Details
  • The Corporation with a view to strengthen its Marketing Activities and turn the Corporation into a Profitable Organization has appointed the Consultant Company KPMG to study the current status of the Corporation and submit the Report. The Company has conducted the study from September 2018 to March 2019 and interacted with the Minister for Social Welfare, Govt., of Karnataka and experts in the field many times and finally submitted the Report containing so many recommendations and Five Years Transformation Road Map. As per the recommendation on Road Map the action to be initiated on the following recommendations.
  • Advisory Group Formation.
  • Formation of new SBU.
  • Product Line and Catalogue Revamp.
  • Product Design and Development Overhaul.
  • Sales Channel Optimization.
  • Rebranding Lidkar.
  • Artisan Community and Skill Enhancement.
  • Business Process Design.
  • Technology interventions for Business Operations.
  • Associations and Partnership.
  • Based on the above recommendations, the Corporation already initiated actions. As a first step, the Lidkar Advisory Committee is formed under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Social Welfare Minister, GOK, and consisting of senior officers of the Govt., and Experts in the Field.
  • Further Separate Commercial Division is formed Headed by General Manager. He will be assisted by Subordinate Officers and Technical Staffs. To strengthen the Division and Marketing Activities, a Professional Business Development Agency is being appointed.
  • In the 2nd Floor of Lidkar Bhavan, arrangement is made for display of Products, online stores and Central Lidkar Leather Emporium.
  • As far as Rebranding is concerned, Lidkar Leather Emporium at Jayangar Shopping Complex is renovated with Rebranding and it was Re-launched with Branded Products and New Collections. The Quality of the Products has been upgraded to Premium Level and released to the Market. In the coming months, the Central Lidkar Leather Emporium at Vasanthnagar, LLE at Mysore, Belagavi and Mangalore are going to be upgraded on the lines of Jayanagar LLE.
  • Here Lidkar undertakes to make Customized Footwear for Diabetic Conditions and Orthopedical Problems. GI Tag Kolhapuri Chappals are also available in this showroom. However an exclusive Sales Counter for Sale of GI Tag Kolhapuri Chappals is opened at Cauvery Arts and Crafts Emporium at M.G Road, Bangalore.
2. National Level Leather Artisans Mela:
Details
  • The Objective of organizing this Mela is to create favourable Environment for Development of Leather Industry in the State, to provide Market linkage to the Artisans Products and encourage Artisans to continue their Profession.
  • The artisans from all the Districts will be invited to the Mela and facilitate the Display and Sale of the Products made by them. Also artisans from National Level will be invited for the Fair. Here the artisans will get exposure to the other designs of the Product made by artisans in different Districts or States and they will an opportunity to exchange their skills.
  • The Artisans will be avoided with State Level Leather Craftsman Award for Best Traditional Design in Footwear.
3. Mysore Dasara Exhibition
Details
  • The Corporation participates in Mysore Dasara Exhibition every year and sell artisans Products and Leather Goods made by SSI Units.
4. Rebate on Sale of Leather Products:
Details
  • The Corporation every year offers special Discount on the sale of Artisan Products and other Leather Products made by SSI units during important festive Seasons, thereby Promoting Handcrafted artisan Products.
  • The Rate of discount ranges from 20% to 40% depending on the age of the products.

General qualifications and criteria set for beneficiary selection

General qualifications :
  • Skin artisans must belong to a family of Scheduled Castes belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Samaras, Dora, Adizambawa, Betcher and Mochi communities.
  • Must be a resident of Karnataka.
  • The District Committee shall function under the Chairmanship of the Joint Directors / Deputy Directors, Department of Social Welfare with the following members
  • After selecting the beneficiaries, the above committee will submit the list of district coordinators of the corporation to the head office after getting confirmation.
  • The implementation of the plan is to be followed by the administrative approval of the Managing Director of the selection list and the publication of the selection list in the respective District Units Notification Panel.
Rules :
  • Applicants / dependent members of the family should not be employed by any government / non-governmental employee.
  • Allowing only one craftsman in a family (family means husband, wife and unmarried children)
  • If the sanctioned beneficiary is found to be ineligible, the sanction is canceled at any stage.
Implementation Method :
  • Promotion of the project and inviting applications before the implementation of the project. Applications will be distributed at the office of the Taluk Social Welfare Officer.
  • After the last date the District Coordinator of the corporation has compiled and verified the applications from the Taluk Social Welfare Officers and prepared the list of eligible artisans and presented them before the District Committee.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and under 50 years of age.
  • The annual income of the applicant's family is Rs. 1,50,000 / - in rural areas and Rs. 2,00,000 / - should be within the limit
  • 3% should be given preference for persons with disabilities.
  • Preference for craftsmen who have formed self-help societies.
Documents to be submitted by the applicant :
  • Latest Caste & Income Certificate (RD Number.)
  • Educational Certificates (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar card compulsory.
  • Ration Card / Election Identity Card
  • Copy of Bank Pass Book
  • Career Certificate

Note: The amount of changes in the general eligibility and documentation to be provided on a plan basis.
